A Sacrifice

It has been six years since my last blog. However, I have had a lot on my mind and will be slowly returning to the blog world. This may also be a chance for friends and others to get to see me in a different light. Today my blog will have some religious insight. I do not mean to hurt or offend anyone, my intent is to share and I hope to possibly give others something to consider, to ponder, and to think about. What is a sacrifice? Interestingly enough when you google sacrifice the definition is to slaughter an animal or person, or giving up a possession as an offering to God or other supreme being. Now, I am going to relate this to life today during COVID-19. Please, don't tune me out, please don't delete the screen. I ask that you continue to read on and hear me out, because this has been on my mind and pieces have been coming together. Over a week ago we had Easter. There is something about Easter and spring that I love. Colors are coming back outside, the sun is out more,...

Experience Versus Transaction

One day, a couple months ago I had to attend a work meeting. Right now I work in retail. I brought paper and a pen to take notes, but I mainly use them to doddle. That day I sat holding my paper and pen, dropping my paper and pen and switching my position a lot. However, I actually paid attention. The speaker shared a story and the story has stuck with me. His story was about when he went to a store and had a problem with an item. He took his dysfunctional item to customer service. They returned to him his money, but he later found out they didn't fix the problem with the item. This left him feeling perplexed, they obviously didn't care. More like a transaction. It's like they only met the problem half way. They gave the man his money back, but they didn't fix the problem for the future customers.  He used this story to help us understand an experience from a transaction. Working in retail you sometimes get more carried away with the sales, numbers, and fixing things...

Family First

First of all I should be studying right now, but this has been on my mind all week and I need to write it down. Get it out.  So yeah, Family. I would do anything for a member of my family. I am loyal to the core and they would do the same for me, because that is family. Family should come first above all and I think sometimes we take advantage of that idea and we forget and get carried away in our own lives. A lot of times we go to friends for aid before family. In some situations one has too. Some of us don't have a supportive family or a family at all. If you aren't in that situation, then always go to family.        Positives to family. You can get in an argument and then ten minutes it's like it never happened. I've argued with my parents and siblings a lot. They've hurt my feelings too, but I would never trade them in. I can rely on my family. Family will return your calls, at least mine do. They will no...

Confession

I think this is going to be a short post. I'm not confessing that. No guarantees. Many of you may be surprised by my confession, because many of you have heard me speak of it in a slightly distasteful way. I've thought of it, but then I've leaned away from it. It's been on my mind, which is why I am confessing.  Some of you know what it is.       My brain wrestles with the idea. Sometimes I think it's that extra brain matter roaming in my nasal passages (story for another day). It goes back and forth on an idea and then it just thinks too and I mean too much. I'm kind of going off topic now. So, back to my confession. I secretly have an interest in sales. I work at a furniture store and have told myself I would never ever do sales. However, a part of me wants to try it out.       So, I chatted with a coworker at lunch today. They brought the idea to me. It's like I wanted someone to bring it up...

Driftwood

Two posts in a week! That's pretty much a record especially since I have been away from this bloggy world for so long. I guess I've had a lot on my mind these past days, weeks, and months. I've had a lot roaming in my mind and there has been a lot that I have wanted to do, but I haven't moved forward. I've had my reasons, but I will admit that they are excuses. A lot of it has been affected by fear. I keep telling myself it's because I am waiting. Waiting for what? Well, I've been waiting for the perfect opportunities, and well there is no perfect opportunity. I've been waiting on people, but I can't let waiting on them hold me back. These last couple of weeks I have found clarity. I have taken time away from my normal routine. I've given myself some solitary time to ponder and study. I've spoken to a close friend or two that I trust. I discovered that I need to let things go. I need to sacrifice some of the things that I am waiting for ...

A Pet Peeve

We all have pet peeves. Well, most of us have some sort of irritation or annoyance.  Some are major and other minor. If you are pet peeve free congratulations! Seriously, I'm working on mine.I have a secret pet peeve that will no longer be secret. I try to ignore it. Some days I am cool and just let it go, but then other days it really bothers me. This week it has really bothered me. It's an easy fix too, and I really don't think people realize what they're doing and I should correct them on the spot, but I don't and that's my fault. Some of you that know me well enough may have already guessed what it is? Mostly everyone pronounces my name incorrectly. My name is Lauren, spelled as you can see with AU not O like Loren. There are some girls named Lauren that pronounce there name Loren. That is not my case. It drives me crazy and I laugh inside and mentally shake my head when I introduce myself as Lauren and they automatically call me Loren. That is when I ...

A Dream is a Wish.....

"A Dream is a wish your heart makes when you're fast asleep." This quote is from one of my favorite childhood movies Cinderella. She's the princess I would want to be. However, if a Dream was a wish that my heart made, well then my heart has got some serious problems. I like to interpret my dreams. They fascinate me and annoy me. I've finally downloaded an app to help me interpret my dreams. They all mean the same thing, but I'm still intrigued. Anyways, they fascinate me so much that I  realized this isn't the first time I have blogged about dreams. Oh, by the way Happy 2014! This is my first blog of the year. Sorry folks, I've been busy. Okay, enough of that, back to the main topic. Dreams. So, last night I had a dream about Hans Zimmer. I love him, well his music. In my dream he gave me some old albums of music he had composed. I had never heard of them, but took them anyways. Then Dr. Seuss was randomly in my dream. All of a sudden Hans Zimme...

Farewell September, Bring it October!

September has been the worse month ever. I have never had so much crazy go on within 3 weeks. I can't believe I am saying this, but I am so glad to be done with summer. I have a little over a week left of September, but it's a new season. I can do this. When it rains it pours! I am hoping that September has been preparing me for October. So yes, October I am ready for you. September started off bad. I had a disagreement with a good friend, which I am still trying to work out. Nothing is easy. I had a heart attack the other day, however that turned out to be a false alarm:) I'm a silly girl. I was also sick for a week. And then my car began acting up on me. That lasted for maybe a week. I am so very grateful to my family and friends for transporting me to work and activities. On top of not having a car I had jury duty that week. When it rains it pours. Oh I forgot I also received a notice in the mail from a collections agency due to a medical bill that my insurance was su...

It's Neapolitan Baby!

Ice cream! Yum, yum, and well YUM! The greatness about ice cream is that there are so many flavors and no matter the flavor I will eat it up. Now most flavors just have one flavor or maybe two swirled together with some toppings or syrup. Every bite tastes the same. The greatness about Neapolitan is that every bite can be different. There are three flavors side by side! You can have a combo of strawberry and vanilla, strawberry and chocolate, vanilla and chocolate, vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry together, or have each individually! Not to mention you can dress it with whatever toppings you like. So much of a variety, so much randomness, yet you still know what to expect. Alright, now let's switch gears. Why am I talking about ice cream? Out of all the fantastic flavors why Neapolitan? Because friends I have discovered something. I need Neapolitan. Let me clarify I need a man like Neapolitan. Someone easy going, structured, yet spontaneous, someone random. Someone with a gre...

Health Insurance...Oh how they Care :)

Sorry, oh so sorry for my lack of writing. I've been busy, and well sometimes I have writers block. Most of it has been writers block. I just sometimes can't think of anything to write. I could just ramble on and on about nothing.....that may just happen today. However, nothing usually becomes something, and while writing about nothing I have come up with something.  I received a phone call while beginning to write. It was from my insurance company checking up on me and my health. Isn't that sweet of them? They wanted to check up on how I was doing with my asthma. Yes, friends. I have asthma. It's exercised induced. So, before I do some heavy duty cardio I pull out my little puffer and puff away.  I spoke with Jared. He was a very informative representative. He made sure I visited my doctor regularly, and that I wasn't refilling my puffer to often. Again how sweet, he wanted to make sure I wasn't ODing on my puffer! Over all it was a great experience. I'...

Dreams...............

Definitions of a Dream : A series of thoughts, images, or emotions occurring during sleep, an experience of waking life having the characteristics of a dream ( a visionary creation of the imagination, a state of mind marked by abstraction or release from reality, an object seen in a dreamlike state ), something notable for its beauty, excellence, or enjoyable quality ( a strongly desired goal or purpose, something that fully satisfies a wish). Thank you Merriam Webster. It sounds well, kinda Dreamy doesn't it?           I am a great lover and hater when it comes to dreams . I love letting my imagination go a little wild. I love to explore and create. I love taking characters from books and movies and either continuing their story or giving them an ending that will satisfy my taste. I love listening to instrumental music when I do this. Hans Zimmer is one of my favorite composers to listen to. ...

Captain America vs. Spider-Man

Captain America versus Spider-Man ; battle for my heart. I was always a Spider-Man girl. I still  am a Spider-Man girl, but then I met Captain America and well now my heart is oh so confused! So I thought maybe if I took the time to write it out that maybe my true feelings would unfold. Let's start with Captain America , AKA Steve Rogers. First off the name Steve Rogers is well, kind of hot. I mean that guy has beautiful hair. Kind of hot and kind of bold. Captain America is bold. He knows who is and stands up for what he believes. He is an all American perfect guy, and a born leader. A gentlemen who respects the laws, rules, and probably his woman. He is strong and the only weapon he ever really needs is his shield that is made out of vibranium- adimantium, a really fancy rare material. He was also the first Super Hero, at least in the Marvell world of comics. Correct me if I am mistakenly wrong. The next runner up is Spider-Man , who we know as Peter Parker. Peter P...

Randomosity...or is it?

Hmmmm..... You ready for it? Are you really ready for this random blog? Knowing me it will start off random and then in the end I will have come up with something. Something amazing! Hence the sarcasm :) First I will start up with an overview of my week.             Sunday, church. It was lovely, very. Monday work and home evening. Works been a little crazy. I loved my job when I first started, but well now I have my days. I want more out of life and work. I am blessed with all of these gifts and talents and I just want to take the time and make them into something more. Today I was pondering over how much of a right brained individual I am.           When I was younger I thought it was cool, but I always struggled in school with my homework, my tests, and quizzes. Apart of me really wanted to be a lefty, I thought maybe i ...

I'm Done, but I'm Good

Do you ever write something down and regret it later? Sometimes I feel like a hypocrite, but then again life is always changing. So then I guess it's alright for my opinion or feelings to change. Right now I am feeling pretty content with myself. I'm done. No I'm not done with life, and this is no suicidal note friends. Come on it's me? I'm done playing the infamous game. What infamous game? The ridiculous girl guy game. The game of Love. No friends, I'm not crying at my keyboard. I'm not feeling hopeless like it's never going to happen. I'm just pulling myself out of it. I need a break. I'm tired of getting mixed signals and reading into things that aren't there, and right now there really isn't anyone making me want to pull myself in. I do however have a confession. Those who know me know I would never do this, and before I tell you I think it best for you all to know I'm not desperate. I'm not. I'm curious. So do you want...

Hey there!

Alright, so my Gluten free diet ended about two weeks ago, and in good timing with the Holiday's coming and going. I still need to have a little celebration of it by going out and feasting on either pizza, pancakes, or good hardcore Chinese food. It is going to be awesome! Okay, story time. For those of you who don't know me as well as you wish you did, well you may want to take notes. Please do not allow food or liquid to be around me in a humorous or possibly humorous setting. If it is around do not allow me to partake, choking may occur. No choking will occur. I have choked on my food multiple times while I was among my coworkers. May I just need to go to another lunch table or something. I choked my second week on chocolate milk because a coworker said his children heard that chocolate milk was made to cover up all the blood and puss in milk. Ha ha yeah right, I laughed but instead of spitting my milk out I swallowed it. Bad idea because my lungs were messed up for at least...

No wheat, no flour (enriched), No GLUTEN!

I have not had any gluten for over a month. I thought that I would have died by now, but my body is still functioning. Why no gluten? Well, I thought I could do with losing a few pounds before the holidays. You know like preweight loss, because everyone wants to lose after the holidays. So, why not lose it before? Genius, I know. If you really believed that load of fluff, well I'm must be really good, or you don't know me very well. Ha ha. Alright, the real reason I have gone off gluten is to see if it has anything to do with these blasted headaches I get all the time. Yes, they are still roaming around in the left side of my head. I hate them and I try to use that word sparingly. It has been maybe 5 years since they started. I'm tired of going to the Dr all the time and not getting any relief. So, I decided to try some things. To test out some theories myself, before going back to the Dr's. Gluten has had no effects on my headaches. I am ...

Seriously?

Alright, so the last time I blogged I think I mentioned something about a couple of guys of interest. One of them is a no go and another is still in the running's. The No go. I was really trying hard to like this one. He has a great job, a fancy car, a house, even a motorcycle. He would come up and talk to me after each activity and it was all cool. I soon realized that I really didn't have feelings for the guy. I was trying so hard to like him that it wasn't coming naturally and then realized I didn't like him. There were other things that made me not like him either. Like the fact that he lived alone in his house with 2 cats and how just the other day he called me sparkles. Friends if you know me then you would know something like calling me sparkles would make me want to throw up or gag. I am also more of a dog person than a cat person, and would prefer my animals/pets to hang outdoors. I also had a nightmare the other day that I married him, and during the whole d...

Ha ha ha....random

This is gonna be short and sweet. Short and sweet I hope. So far I have not complained once outside of work about my job. That hasn't happened in well, forever. Okay that was a lie, sometimes I complain about how early I have to get up. Nothings perfect. I auditioned for institute choir, mainly to make friends. Let's begin by telling you all that I was nervous. I will conclude by letting you know I didn't make it. I'm okay, because it really isn't my scene, so save your tissues. Maybe next year? I have also decided to give the hairless another look. I do prefer gentlemen with hair, however there have been a couple runner ups, interests who don't have a lot of fluff up top. Mine as well. Alright, I think that is it. Short and sweet right?

Life is Beautiful....or Just Awesome!

Image
Yes Awesome, I am still trying to pinch myself out of this fantasy. Any day I am expecting something horrible to go wrong and hating what I have gotten myself into. I have a new job. Yes, yes blah blah, I know what you all must be thinking. "Why can't Lauren stick to one job, she job hunts an awfully lot?" Well hopefully the cycle has stopped. Oh, and I didn't really quit my workplace. I transfered! I transfered from Cashiers to Display. Which means I wake up super early for work (cause I gotta be there at 6:30am, but I get to leave at 3pm!). I get to work Monday through Friday, with an occasional Saturday. This also means that my paycheck will go up a $1.50. WHoop Whoop! So, maybe after some financial figuring and a potential roomate I can move out. Alright, so now my job. Every morning I go though and straighten up the little mess that customers may have left the night before. Then I fill in the holes that they may have le...

First the Worst, Second the best....

And thirds the one with the hairy chest! OK that may have not been the best phrase to use, but it's what came to my mind. Anyways many of you may know that last year in March I had a nose job, and no it was not rhinoplasty , it was an endoscopic sinus surgery. The outside of my noise looks fine, thank you very much. It has been over a year and well the pain has not gone away, so now I have returned to the Doctors to see what is up. So on Tuesday I will be having a CT scan on my head again. I am almost 99.9 percent sure they will find something and that I will have to have surgery again. Weird thing was that the first time I had surgery they didn't pull out mucous gunk but, they found hetero topic sinonasal neurological tissue. Easy terms excess brain mass. My mom still doesn't believe that, but who could forget something like that. I've head from some that their head pain didn't actually go away until they had surgery the second time, so here goes...
